considering a trip in April

Hi, I've really been enjoying reading this forum.

I'm considering a sort-of last-minute trip next month. My current plan is to arrive in PR on Sunday, April 16, stay in Old San Juan for a night, then move to Culebra, and stay there for a few nights, and then move to Vieques for a few nights, and then return to San Juan, departing on Tuesday, April 25.

I have not made any arrangements and haven't yet looked into making arrangements. My question is, am I crazy for thinking I can plan this only a few weeks ahead? Will everything be booked? Is that a popular week to be in San Juan/Culebra/Vieques? Is it still considered high season?

Excuse my ignorance. I haven't been to PR and I have no idea of the level of demand for accommodations during different times of year.

You are not crazy! Easter is over and the islands will have quieted down. It is still high season, but there will be rooms. Go to the shelter section and find what you are looking for.

One suggestion is to use the high speed ferry for travel between Culebra and Vieques. It doesn't run every day, so find out when and plan your move between islands when it does.

I went ahead and made some calls. I have reservations for my Vieques portion of the trip (Casa Alta Vista), and a reasonable flight. Getting really excited!!

I'm trying to get in touch with Villa Boheme for my Culebra stay. My husband wants to camp on Flamenco, but I don't think I want to go so rustic.

I'm staying at VB from 4/3 to 4/9. I'll try to write a report on this forum and let you know how it was. I've heard good things though and it does look pretty good.
