I am one of the owners of the Fast Ferry. Ella es muy incorrecta. Ella no tiene los hechos. She is very wrong and does not have the facts straight.

Our company does in fact operate between mainland Rhode Island and Block Island in the summer. We operate between Old San Juan - Culebra and Vieques in the winter. We are not "posers". We are the real deal. We are officially sponsored by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, a division of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development.

Block Island is the same size as Culebra. It is common for "islanders" to distrust anything "mainland". I should know I am a Rhode "Islander". It is an all too common and unfortunate attitude.

Have fun! Life is too short!

As one of the owners, I thought you would like to know that both 877.899.3993 and 787.722.5958 lead to a dead voicemail box in the bowles of the Telefonica de PR system. How do I make a reservation when no one picks
up? Also the "tickets" and "contacts" links on the http://www.islandhispeedferry.com/puertorico/index.htm go nowhere and e-mails sent to contact@islandhispeedferry.com bounce back. My friends and I land in San Juan Friday morning, and we are planning on praying and showing up at the dock. Not a good feeling.

Don't bet the farm on it, Davy. Hope you have alternate transportion. Their e-mail has been bouncing since they went into business last March. I don't know how they survive. Other than the maiden voyage last March, I have never seen that ferry in Culebra again. I was just there for an extended period in January, and nada.

Happy Diving!

If you use the 'inquire here' link on top of

http://www.islaculebra.com/puerto-rico/san-juan-high-speed-ferry.htm

you will reach them! not only that, Sandy will answer :)

Their schedule published on that page is current.

Enjoy Culebra!

Debbie was obviously diving during daylight hours in January. In fact, had she been in Culebra for an extended period in December, she would know that the government chartered our vessel to provide regular, relaible service to the island because the US Coast Guard shut all of their vessels down (something that has never, ever, happened to us.

Like I said. Life's too short. Have fun.

I have reservations for Sunday morning on the Hi speed ferry and just wanted to say that I have been very impressed with the service. Although I was not able to e-mail to make the reservation, the phone was answered quickly and they were very polite. They called back with a confirmation number within the hour. I changed the reservation last week to be a one way instead of the round trip so we could rent a car and see the rainforest on our way back, and again the phone was answered right away and I had polite and courteous service. I am calling 877-899-3993

Mark,

Yeah, I heard about your ferry taking the government routes for a little while while the ferries were being inspected by the Coast Guard, but still, even though I only dived 4 days during my trip, I never saw your ferry, nor do I ever hear any of the locals talking about your dependable service.

Can you explain why your e-mails have been bouncing since last March? Why is it so difficult to reach you? What is the exact "season" that you operate in PR?

I toured the ship; I'd love to be able to take it, but it's much easier to get in touch with the airlines than to get in touch with your company. It's a problem.

Happy Diving!
Debbie

Back in early December I sent a request for information on the ferry from San Juan using the contact form on this website and received a response in one business day. At that time they said "we are planning to be up and running on the dates you requested", but they were not accepting reservations. I didn't want to wait and made flight reservations instead. I would have loved to take the ferry one way, but "planning" didn't sound like a sure thing.

We took the Culebra - San Juan ferry a few weeks back after my girlfriend had a tough time with the small plane on the way to Culebra (it was pretty windy for her first 'puddle jumper' flight so we'll hope its a little more calm this time around). While there weren't many people on the ferry with us, it was a pretty comfortable ride, even with the 6' - 8' seas most of the way back. It left Culebra promptly as per the schedule on this site. Hope this helps...

We just returned from our trip to Culebra and I just wanted to report that we had no problems at all with the hi speed ferry. It was running with exact time schedules printed. We did see it other days that we were there also. The swells were very large on our trip but I thought it was an awesome ride and will use them again for our next trip! ( There were about 10 people on the ferry that didn't share my love of being bounced around and had to use the bags provided)

What follows is a copy of my last e-mail to Island Hi-Ferry.

Thanks counselor for the quick response. I called Sandy to make the
reservation, and I took the trip on the tenth of this month. Your crew
was first notch, even during the part when I was randomly selected for
a bag search. We arrived at the dock in Culebra on time and faster
than I had imagined it possible. Our time in Culebra was marvelous,
and on Sunday the fast ferry arrived on time to pick us up, but was
delayed because the berth was occupied by the ferry to Vieques. As
soon as there was room the fast ferry docked and got us on board. We
made up for lost time during the trip and we mad it to San Juan on
time.

I will continue to tell anyone who will listen about your fantastic
service, and I wish you and all at Island Hi-Speed Ferry much success.
