few choicnes "on" the beach. Some rooms at Flamenco. Have not stayed there. check websites for two locations: Tamarindo Estates, very clsoe to tamarindo beach - mostly shell , little sand - but great snorleling adn quiet. Resaurant on site has been good whenever I ate there.
My favorite is Harbour View Villas, near the dock, overlooks town and sardinas bay. Easy walk to town but far enough. Little noise. nearby melones beach - again mostly coral beach, excellent snorkeling and hiking there, ery poretty veiws from villa and nearby spots. restaurant on-site- open weekends. Will not disapapoint. it is set of three villas and some aprtments higher up the hill. Good privacy though. You'll need car for short drive to good sand beaches. Along quiet road. Very nice people. It's my "default" lodging whenever I visit annually
