SJU to Fajardo

We're a group of 4 arriving at SJU on a Saturday morning in May at 5:30 AM. Is it possible by taxi to make the 9 AM ferry from Fajardo to Culebra ? (Flying from SJU to Culebra is out because of our heavy arse luggage.) If we can't make the 9 AM ferry and have to wait until the 3 PM - any suggestions on what to do during the wait ? Will a taxi take us on an abbreviated tour of that area for a reasonable price ? Appreciate your help......

Heck yeah, there's plenty of time. It's only an hour or so taxi ride from SJU to the ferry.

As for whether you can get ferry tickets or not, well, there's lots of threads about that.

If it were me... I would book one of the taxi services in advance and pay them extra to pick up ferry tickets for you a day prior. It's worth a $20 tip.

We used John's Publico a couple of weeks ago. He picked us up right on time at 6:30 a.m. in Condado, so we had a little more distance to cover than from SJU. We made the ferry in plenty of time. He said he did try to get ferry tickets for us ahead of time (we asked him to), but they wouldn't sell them to him -- apparently this happens from time to time, depending on who is working. We had to stand in line for over an hour to get our tickets, but it was worth it. Would have been nice if he could have gotten them for us, though.
