Scooter Rental in Culebra

My wife and have been to culebra once and are planning a day trip there soon. We would like to see zoni beach and carlos rosario so I'm thinking of renting a scooter for the day. Can anyone tell me if this is a bad idea? Or have a better suggestion. I wasn't to thrilled with the van taxi.

In order to get to some of the remote beaches it is highly unlikely any of the publicos or taxis will take you their. I have made many visits to Culebra in the last 5 yeras and I have seem many people rent scooters instead of a car or relying on vans.

My husband and I will be in Culebra early next month and I recently checked on the price of renting scooters and jeeps(cars). I found that the price for scooters was $42/day and the price of renting a VW Thing from Dick and Cathie's was $40/day and they don't require you to purchase insurance, as some of the other places do. So, unless you really WANT to ride a scooter, you could get a Thing for the same cost. Hope you have a great time and that this message doesn't reach you too late!

I've never rented from D+C (Jerry fan here), but some friends love their Things, have never had complaints and swear by them. and they usu. stay in weird remote spots.
