San juan to Fajardo

How much does a taxi cost from San Juan airport to the Fajardo ferry and how long is the ride? Is it possible to take a publico from San Juan to Fajardo? How much would that cost, and how long would that take (I heard that they take forever)? Also, do I need to reserve the passenger ferry tickets (only 2 people)? Thanks, -- Aura

Hi Aura, The taxi from the Luis Munoz airport is $65 one way to Fajardo and I was told it could take from 1-3 hrs. You can fly one way for $70 w/ Isla Nena airlines out of Luis Munoz or $40 w/ another airlines, but out of a different airport 20mins. from Luis Munoz. No way to reserve tickets on the ferry and supposedly the weekend travel is very, very crowded. I'm going to Culebra on Sun. Jan. 11. Can't wait!!

The ferry from Fajardo to Culebra is never crowded, only right before Holy Week.

Fly in, save yourself the aggravation of the taxi if it's going to cost you a little bit more!
