I would just like to say that Culebra is an amazing place to have stumbled apon! My recent husband and I had been stranded on the mainland P.R. Island during our honeymoon (en route to Bonaire) when the Monserrat Volcano had spewed ash and we were not able to leave mainland P.R. via airplane - our hotelroom had listed day trips to Culebra and we said (upon first sight of Flamenco Beach ) " We need to be there for the week, this is what we think a honeymoon should look like!" We got a ferry from Fajardo and found paradise! The people were so nice, the food was fantastic, the weather was amazing, the small town atmosphere was amazing, and as ocean life lovers there was no better place to be. Snorkeling was a huge part of our lives while down there, we saw flounder or sole, friendly and curious stingrays, baracuda and much much more - on a daily basis. Thank you Culebra for being such a peaceful and tranquil place; our hearts will always have a place for you!
We still dream of the salt air and watching the tide come in over the corral on Melones. It was truly amazing to see the ecosystem on the shore of Melones: corrals, hermit crabs, urchin and very small baby fishes growing up in Melones' backyard!
Fondly dreaming of Culebra - until we visit again! Saving our pesos to return again - this time planned :o)
Thanks!
