Culebra One-Day Trip
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We are going to PR for 6 days during July. I'm planning a one-day trip to Culebra because of the famous Flamenco Beach and beautiful snorkling sites. We will stay in Palmas del Mar area so I plan to take ferry from Fajardo. Several questions:

1. How reliable is the ferry schedule? I asked this question because I saw a comment about it. I don't know if I should take the chance or join a one-day trip tour from East Island. (We booked their BioBay trip already and also plan to book their One-Day Sun and Sand. If we book the trip to Culebra, we probably should call our trip as East Island trip!)

2. Does the ferry co. offer ticket reservation? I heard that it takes a long time to get the tickets at the dock ...

3. If we only need to get from ferry terminal to Flamenco Beach, then from Flamenco Beach to close-by snorkling sites, then from snorkling sites back to the dock, do we really need to rent a jeep? Are there a lot of taxi running around the island or do we need to reserve it advance?

4. How expensive are the resturants there? I have a 9 and 12 yrs old to travel with us. Some good local exotic foods to recommend?

We are all excited but I'm the only one who have time to plan the trip so I try to make it perfect ... So please help!!!

I agree with Debbie Do. While everything is doable in one day using the ferry and readily available taxis from the dock to Flamenco, our ferry was 3 hours late which made the day trippers very unhappy since it really cut into their beach time. If you make it to Flamenco and are interested in snorkeling, make sure you take the hike to Rosario which is great. Have a nice time.
