Farjado back to San Juan $$

I am planning on arriving in San Juan on April 27th at 2:30 pm. I'll most likely try to catch the Bacardi tour as soon as I hit town. Then the next morning try to catch a taxi to Fajardo in order to ride the ferry to Vieques for 2 days. Once I get back to Fajardo, how much will it cost for a taxi back? How accessible are the taxis? And does it make sense to go to Viques and not rent a car? I hate driving, so I'll base my decision on my responses.

There is good transportation on publics, however, you'll loose soome time and some spots, unless you "charter " a PUBLICO just for yourself, which is the same as renting a car.

And around how much would would chartering a publico cost? And is this just on Vieques, or on both Vieques and the mainland? Because I ruled against staying at the El Conquistador because I keep reading so many reviews that it is almost impossible to leave the grounds without a rental car, and that a taxi would cost $40 to just go 5 minutes away.
