thanks to this forum for all the helpful info prior to my arrival in culebra. Although it was pouring in san juan, the sun was shining on the island.
We had a wonderful stay atthe Palmetto guest house. It was convenient to every beach,town, and restaurants.
We rented mt bikes from Dick and Kathy. We rode to zoni one day, flamingo for the sunset and punta soldado another day.

we enjoyed meals at juanita bananas, barbara Rosa"s, and El Bahia. We found reasonable priced wines at the airport bar and El Eden to take to dinner with us. El eden had excellent breakfast pastries and coffee. Although we stopped at riccis and club solburne,we felt ? unwanted. Was it because we were on bikes or not dressed well enough? Both were otherwise empty.

We did have difficulty finding a boat out to culebrrita. The glass bottom boat lady-capt. Pat never called us back. The taxi didnt want to take us out there in the afternoon. We'll save that for next time.

What is that ill fitting development on the north eastern tip of the bay? It looks so out of place. Will all of Culebra look like this when we return?

About your boat to Culebrita... you said it was pouring in san juan, I understand rain.
It is very ussual to this season, with winds from the north, that the entrance to Culebrita becomes a real threat to life, not an easy thing my friend. Maybe because of that you did not find some boat to take you there.
Other reason may be the lack of passengers, when I was taking people to Culebra and Vieques, I told potential clients, that I wanted four persons, and the price will be the same with only one. That was for cost of business reasons.
I have never been to Riccis, but I can understand the looks of Club Seaborne if you were not properly dressed, they are " gourmet/fine" people.

Any way... hope you come back.

Jody,
Sounds like a great trip. We rented a boat from Butch at Culebra Boat rental for 2 days and had a blast. Went to Culebrita and lots of great snorkeling spots. The development on Culebra is probably Costa Bonita;
it's a resort that is mostly empty. We drove out there a few times to just see what the heck it was. It is like a ghost town! Very strange. It has a brand new pool with swim up bar, lounge, hottub - the works, but no one at all was ever there. We went out there one evening for what was advertised as "Criolla night" - figured we'd have some drinks and food. Wrong! We walked all around the place for almost an hour and not a single soul was there. We thought about making ourselves a drink at the bar, but didn't. We all decided it would make a great setting for a Stephen King novel!
