Has anyone driven to Soldado lately?

How are roads to Soldado? Driveable?

Last week I made it out as far as where the paved road ends. the paved road was so grown in that the branches were scraping almost all of the way. And the view over looking Dakity was all grown in. Bummer. So I didn't venture down the unpaved hill. I saw folks do it on foot so perhaps that is the way to go.

I did it in early January. As usual, it required a bit of care to avoid undercarriage contact. Not a suitable place to learn how do this. If in doubt, park and walk.

When we went in July, a gentleman who lived back near Soldado was right in front of us cutting back the brush along the way. We made it fine. Even through the huge mud puddle. You do have to go slow and watch what you are doing though. The main problem will the the Acacia thorns, which you need to try like heck to avoid as they are one of the main reasons for flat tires. Once you get back to Soladao, it is so worth it.

The sunset from Soldier's Point is one of the best on the island.
