They've moved a lot of the machines away and opened up the road but I haven't been UP the road. I don't hear any building. They did get the bejeezus fined out of them for violations. Right now our big current fight (two biggies going on actually but the big one is the Dubon/Terruno project out toward Seabourne - but taking over the whole mountain...
Um, let me copy something here. Michael...take it out if you'd like but let me know if you do so I can redirect to my blog please! This is about the meeting on the 10th. The meeting referred to happened a couple of days ago where the project owners met with locals to tell them how wonderful this project will be. Of course, the residents do NOT see it that way and were quite vocal in expressing themselves.
I would request...if you have been to Culebra as a tourist and got that fall in love with the place as it is and the idea of this sort of project horrifies you, would you mind writing an email stating that (be as eloquent as you like)? You can send them to me and I'll print them out and take them to the meeting.
Again, Michael, I know I'm going off the rail a bit here, and no harm if you say no go...just let me know. Thanks!
Read the following carefully...then think about the water side road OVER THE WHOLE MOUNTAIN. If you don't know where Electric beach is, think in the Punta Soldada area but closer to the ferry by a quarter or so. These people have already, without permits, put in roads and even have landscapers at work... yes...that arrogant, that sure that even violating many laws, it's signed sealed and delivered...and by whom?????????? Please Attend.......
the "Mi Terruno" public planning board meeting, also known as the Dubon project.
This week, quite few people went to the frightening preliminary meetings.
The project spans 102 acres from Fulladoza Rd. across the hills to the "Electric Beach "area
( it goes from sea to shining sea)
69 buildings are planned- with many of them being multi-family structures.
A moderate estimation is that more than 200 units will be erected in these 69 buildings.
(does it sound like Costa Bonita?)
The public hearing is an important place for us to be. It has been said that ACDEC
(the local board, led by the mayor,) is waiting to see the public's reaction before it gives its final approval.
(imagine! it may give its approval)
The Multi Purpose Room is where we need to be @ 10:00 on Tuesday - or earlier- if you want to participate in the local activities planned outside the meeting. Bring your posters & signs.
( I know it may be hard to participate due to the language barrier that many of us have, but bring a book, write a letter, but try to be there in body.)
This project is a big deal, and there are many waiting in the wings to follow.
