Hola! Definitely take a look at the local newspaper. You don't have to speak the language to figure out how many times a week the police crack down on cases that are drug related, now it's almost daily. Drugs, all of them, are ruining life on the island, not to mention young kids. Killings over who rules the selling points are also daily. Drug lords and their sellers do not hesitate to leave you like a sieve if you even look at them funny. Have you ever seen "Locked up abroad"? Imagine if you're caught and you're locked up in a jail in Puerto Rico. As soon as the inmates find out that a gringo is in their territory, you might as well kiss your white booty goodbye. It will be like a carnival for them, pinata at a kids' birthday party. Don't risk it, do the right thing. Don't contribute to something that right now is bringing down the puertorrican youth and the values of people who have contributed so much to society. I don't mean to lecture but, I have to stand up for the very thing that some of my family members risk their life for. Don't do drugs, don't bring them to the island and don't partake in this kind of activity with anyone on the island. There are many other things you can do to have fun. Drink Bacardi and Medalla because the way the economy is going, the local industries are in peril. Get high experiencing a great day on Flamingo, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, snorkeling at Carlos Rosario, having a plate of rice and beans at El Batey, a pina colada con Bacardi at Mamacitas, all the while engaging in great conversation with the locals. Happy travels! J
