Culebra to Vieques

Does anyone know if there is a ferry from Culebra to Vieques, if so does it go everyday and what is the schedule? I have tried calling directly but for the last few days when I call the number clicks as if some one is picking up but quickly disconnects. Could there be a web site?

I understand Culebra & Vieques are municipalities of Puerto Rico, but do both islands share in the same characteristics and ambience. I have been in Culebra and plan to return in May, though I have not experience the sister island of Vieques I would like to adventure there. In flamingo there is a camping facility, is the same offered in Vieques? Additionally is their more offered in terms of evening entertainment and resturants?

There is a ferry from Culebra to Vieques. It leaves Culebra at about 5:00 PM and comes from Vieques in the early AM (6:30 ?) It was started to bring workers from Vieques to Culebra, thus the schedule.

There is a campground at SunBay in Esperanza. ( I don't know if it's open)There's a good website for Vieques that should be able to point you in the right direction. (www.enchanted-isle.com/vieques/)

I first went to Vieques in 1984. I'd say in many ways it was about where Culebra is now. I haven't been there in about 6 years but even then, Vieques had generally more of everything: traffic, rooms, restaurants, etc.

It's pretty interesting that even though the two islands are only 7 miles apart or so, tourists have generally stayed in one or the other.

I find Culebra to be more layed back in the sense of "do it yourself."
